Ishwarpuram exists for one reason, so that a child far from home never has to feel far from family. This is the story behind that promise.
shwarpuram was founded by the late Shri Vikas Bhagwat, alongside Shri Prashant Joshi and the late Shri Mukund Godbole, Not as an institution, but as an answer to a question: what happens to a talented child when distance, not ability, stands in their way? On a modest 2-acre plot in Phulgaon, they began building the answer.
“The happiness on the children’s faces, and the positive transformation in their lives, is our greatest satisfaction.”
What started with a handful of boys has grown, season after season, into a recognised, government-supported home one that has never stopped asking the same question it started with, and never stopped answering it.
Before a single lesson is taught, a child needs to feel safe, fed, and cared for. That is where Ishwarpuram starts not in a classroom, but in a household, with people who notice when something’s wrong.
Belonging isn’t an add-on here it’s built in. Students keep their language, their dress, their festivals, while slowly building new bonds with a second community around them. Neither has to replace the other.
Our Vision
Not shaped elsewhere, not changed beyond recognition just given the room
and the roots, to grow.
A safe, well-run residence where meals, routines and attention come from people who genuinely
care the foundation everything else is built on.
Space to hold onto one’s own identity language, dress, festivals while
forming real bonds with a new community.
Sport, yoga, values and everyday life skills, so students grow as whole people, not just students.
Local guardians, mentors and well-wishers who open doors a child might not otherwise reach.
Consistent academic support runs alongside all of this necessary, but never the whole story.
